GACA honors 100th birthday of Benny Goodman by returning Dave Bennett and his septet to our stage. The 69th Season of the Greater Alton Concert Association (GACA) continues on Sunday Oct. 25th at 3:00 PM in the Anne Whitney Olin Theatre at Lewis & Clark Community College with David Bennett and his Septet. We first heard this sensational clarinetist David Bennett as a 19-year-old with the �New Reformation Jazz Band� from Saginaw, Michigan. Soon afterward he formed his own band and featured his amazing grasp of the music of the �King of Swing� Benny Goodman. But, in addition to playing the Goodman �licks�, he also had the true feel for the genre of the music. Tone, style, technique and even his appearance brings us back to BG of the 1930�s and �40�s. Now at the ripe old age old 25 he is again stretching out with the music of Pete Fountain, some Jerry Lee Lewis and even some Elvis Presley. Our show will celebrate Benny Goodman and his music, bit you never know who else may appear on stage.
Tickets for the 3 o�clock Sunday performance are $22 ($20 for advance tickets). Student prices are $6 and $5 respectively. Advance tickets may be obtained by phoning 618-468-GACA (468-4222), purchasing them through our convenient ticket outlets or online through Metrotix.com. Groups of 15 or more may receive a 15% discount by phoning our ticket line 468-GACA. This is the second of a series of 5 concerts.
